With the expansion of the city scale, the "safe city" and "electronic police" systems make important contributions to the road safety and public security in the city. With the higher requirements of video surveillance and the expansion of surveillance range, the camera resolution, transmission distance and deployment density are all increased. Long distance transmission of a large number of high-definition cameras requires a large bandwidth and transparent transmission channels. So the fiber transmission becomes the main mode in this field. This method needs a large number of optical fiber resources. Laying new fiber cable has many restrictions, long cycle and high cost, so it is necessary to increase the fiber utilization ratio through the fiber capacity expansion solutions.
Summary
The city video surveillance system is responsible for the city safety and has the characteristics of dense monitoring points and wide distribution. In addition to maximizing the utilization of optical fiber, the fiber capacity expansion solution for city video surveillance system usually should fulfill the following requirements:
1. Low latency for fast video data transmission and real-time monitoring;
2. Fast aggregation and transmission of large video/data in dense camera areas;
3. Strong expansion capability for fast deployment of new monitoring points
There are always two topology modes in city video surveillance system: linear topology along roads and star topology
1. Linear Topology along roads
Replace the white color optical transceivers of cameras, DVR/DVS and switches with CWDM optical transceivers. Deploy WDM MUX-DEMUX/OADM devices along the road to collect all the cameras over 1 or 2 fibers. In the monitoring center, all the video signals are recovered via the MUX-DEMUX device.
2. Star Topology
Deploy WDM MUX-DEMUX devices in each camera/DVR/DVS/Switch site. 1 or 2 fibers are used for each site. All sites are converged to the monitoring center by fiber connections. In the monitoring center, all the video signals are recovered via the MUX-DEMUX device.
Note: If choosing active WDM devices, no need to replace the optical transceivers of cameras, DVR/DVS, switches.
