Currently, the number of CATV network users reaches a hundred million. The network exists in single-way mode mainly. For reducing the maintenance management cost and facing serious competition, how to make the best use of the exiting HFC basic network to develop two-way transmission service becomes the major subject of two-way reconstruction for carrier.

The EPON network structure of point-to-multipoint is similar to the radio film and television network, and native broadcast mechanism of EPON is suitable to transmit video service. GWD provides two-way reconstruction solutions of EPON+LAN and EPON +EoC for the radio film and television network.

1. EPON+LAN 

 

The solution adopts the EPON products of EasyPath series. EasyPath provides large capacity OLT GFA6900 in the central office. Passive optical split instrument should be located at the branch of the radio film and television tree network. EPON provides Ethernet service by fiber in two ways: OUN+corridor switch, or integration and exchange ONU placed in switch box of corridor. The ONU product includes GT811 of 4FE, GT812 of 8FE, GT813 of 24FE and GT815 of 16FE.

2. EPON+EoC 

 

In the solution, the part in the metropolitan house and optical split network are the same with EPON+LAN. ONU and EoC can be located in corridor or optical node, the Ethernet signal from ONU and CATV signal are mixed by EoC, then the two kinds of signals are dispersed by EoC in user house for providing television and data service. EoC transmit data on fundamental frequency no need of power supply, and it is easy for maintenance.
